MCA Coding

MCA Coding for Charter

If you are considering chartering your yacht or motor boat, then, in the majority of cases it will need to comply with the requirements of the Maritime & Coastguard Agent Code of Practice for Small Commercial Vessels.

The Code of Practice is a comprehensive set of regulations covering all aspects of the Construction, Machinery Installation, Equipment Requirements, Manning and Operation of any vessel up to 24m Load Line Length carrying not more than 12 passengers for commercial use.

Vessels must undergo an initial compliance examination prior to being issued with a Small Commercial Vessel Certificate by an MCA approved Certifying Authority. Licenses are valid for five years with annual self-declaration of compliance and a mid-term surveyors’ inspection. Get in touch about your MCA Coding requirements.
